One day after I finished my 9–7 work journey, I was really exhausted. During the day, I had been struggling with a crazy issue at my current project. So, I spent more than a half-day on it. To be honest, I didn’t want to do anything else after it. I didn’t feel like it, I just wanted to go to bed and get some rest.
Nevertheless, part of my daily routine includes a workout session at the end of the day. I dance a little bit with my son, do push-ups, run, and follow a short routine from an online trainer for at least thirty minutes. Actually that represents my perfect escape after a long and tiring workday.
As you might have experienced, the tiredness of that day started taking me on the bill. My brain was trucking on me. A little war began on my head and little by little started to become greater.
There were a few questions floating in my head. Those that come up when we don’t want to do something one way or another. Questions like “If I don’t do this only this day nothing special will happen”, “There’s no problem if I don’t do this today”, “Tomorrow, I will do it and duplicate time and exercise”.
The true story behind that is the fact that all of those are just excuses. Your brain is setting borders trying to protect you. Your brain sees those things as bad for you because you are tired.
Fortunately, I was able to win that battle. So, I want to share the most important aspects I learned from this. I did not only exercise, but I also wrote this piece just minutes later.
Your challenge — hit that space of time, you’ll win
The feeling of not wanting to do something works the same as when you are trying to stay awake but you can’t due to tiredness. It is a tough battle, you already know it, I believe.
Your chances to win it are limited. There is just a tiny line between your desire to stay awake or go to bed. There are just a few seconds to decide if you will do it or not.
How can I knock this tiny space of time and win? According to Tony Robbins, the idea is to connect your action with positive vibes. His most popular example you can find here the Neural Association.
So this cuts down to the idea is to associate any action we are talking about thinking of pleasure rather than pain. This is not a piece of cake though.
1. Creativity comes up magically
Just after you win the battle to your mind you will start to feel emotions and feelings you didn’t have before. In addition to that, your mind starts to see only good things about whatever you are trying to do.
I didn’t want to do the get used workout session. With thoughts on my head back and forth I started. Every single second after it, acted as a little battle.
What I was not seeing is that behind the scene my imagination was spreading so quickly with a bunch of thoughts around it. One of them was the headline and the core points of this post.
I awoke my creativity which on another sort of mood I couldn’t
2. There’s is a non-stop mindset
Don’t underestimate the hidden giveaways under a mood where you don’t want to do anything. Apart from helping you to release your imagination and creativity, the second one is it gives you the chance to set the right mindset — a non-stop feeling-. The right mindset you will need to achieve anything in life.
With this non-stop feeling you not only can do what you are doing at that time but also you are prepared and motivated to go further on the biggest goal you have.
In addition to that and from my point of view, the best of this feeling is the fact nothing else can be distracting you. You have all your full potential and energy playing on your side so everything becomes easier to achieve. You are in the best up-place where you have a clear visualization of everything.
At that moment, I didn’t want to stop my workout routine. I was on fire. And just a few seconds after finishing it I started off to write this piece. It turns out tiredness had gone and I became unstoppable at least for that period of time.
3. Everything has Meaning
Another big discovery was the fact I started to feel a fulfillment sensation. I saw and felt meaningful and that meant success at least for me.
I realized I should stop looking for success outside of myself. It’s already in ourselves. I found it doing that sort of thing I enjoy the most.
If you want to find meaning and feel fulfillment the perfect moment to get it is when you don’t feel like. Our challenge is to overcome that little space of time between you don’t feel like and your non-stop mindset. You will come back to me when you feel it.
4. Get things done with less time and effort
You already have ingredients to the recipe “become really productive” come true — Meaning and the non-stop mindset.
Those components are the bigger players I have encountered so far to get things done.
I wrote 90% of this piece in less time than the average ones. So I reduced time and effort and multiplied the outcome. Super powerful!
Conclusion
When we don’t feel like it, we become zombies, a will-less and speechless human.
However, if you try to get through that tiny space of the state of mind you can get it to your advantage.
After that, you will be protected by your own self-motivation, the non-stop feeling, and meaning to all you are doing. At that moment there’s nothing stopping you. You can feel that power because your body and mind are in the right state.
Thanks for reading. I hope this piece turned out helpful for you
