The biggest problem I have noticed throughout the years is the fact people and even I have not conscious and aware of, not just the importance of time but also the fact it’s limited and it’s a countdown. Time is the most precious and valuable thing we have. Damn! it’s the only element in our life irretrievable!
You can lose your money and you will make more of it, you could quit your girlfriend or wife and you could get in love again, lose your car and buy a new on later. However, what happens when the time has gone away?. Let me guess, it will never come back!.
> I am emphasizing this matter because we need to make a stop and think seriously about how we are wasting this valuable resource.

Putting you in context
All weekdays, I wake up at 5–5:30 am, but every Saturday I wake up at 4:00 to be ready to travel from the capital to the East. I moved out to the capital some years ago but I grew up in the East where I am native. So my family, my wife, son, mom, dad, brothers, and my childhood friends live there. So on weekends, I have beautiful reasons to travel to the East.
This post was written down on my notebook on November 2 while I was living the story I will tell you throughout this post and the powerful lessons learned from it. In my country, on November 2, we have a day off, we celebrate the “Day of the Dead”.
This is a special day for our families since we welcome back the souls of our deceased loved ones. We go to the graveyard and have a brief moment there. We clean up and sow or leave garden plants in the place where our relatives are resting.
I consider myself an obsessive active reader. All the time while I am traveling on the bus I am catching up with my daily read. As should be expected, my cellphone does the hard work and since the trip is around 4 hours the odds it is going to die are high. The same story is repeated on my journey, my cellphone ending up without charge at some point in the road.

The special event that happened
This celebration day all people travel to different graveyards so the traffic increases a lot. But apart of that this day occurred something special. Almost arriving in my city there was really crazy traffic, a line of cars moreover than 10km. Just to give you an example, I spent, spent, spent… 4 hours on that crazy traffic line. I would say, I spent and not waste it because I took advantage of it.
So, my phone died. Then I thought, I can’t read, I cant check my email, I can’t check my social networks updates, I can’t call to anybody. Damn! I can’t do anything.
It was at that moment when I asked myself, What would I do from this disconnection and knowing the time is running away?. It was when I decided to take advantage of the time and started out to write this post. As I mentioned earlier, time is limited and irretrievable if you are not aware of how much it worth, you are totally lost.
Ok, we have talked a lot about the importance of time, so its enough to keep it in your mind. I hope so!
The aim of this post is to share the powerful lessons from disconnection and also give you insights on how to make your day really meaningful even when you don’t know what to do. Be proactive, carry your own weather and build a great environment around you!

Learned Lessons
The follow next I will share what I learned from this meaningful day. There are a lot of reasons to be proactive rather than reactive.
Cellphone dependency
Nowadays, most of us have developed a big and deep tied to our mobile devices and even, in some cases is an extreme and complete dependency. is that ok?. For obvious reasons is not ok, anything on the edges or over boundaries is not good.
As humans being, we need time and space to take care of ourselves, to take a breath, to dig into ourselves to know who we really are, to energy our body, and to be more focus on the things that really matter. This is only possible through disconnection. This is not possible with devices close to us, at our hands and in front of the eyes the majority of the day. Some of you maybe are so worried about how to survive without them.

Being proactive for unexpected situations
“Reactive people are often affected by their physical environment. If the weather is good, they feel good. If it isn’t, it affects their attitude and performance. Proactive people carry their own weather with them”. — Stephen Covey
While I was waiting on the bus I thought, so then?. Now what?. To be honest, I did not have a plan at that time. However, I also know that under a difficult or despaired situation you could still make the best out of that bad moment and unluck your true power under it.
Since I am of the advocate of the importance and value of the time. I knew the fact time was running out and it would never come back. I needed to do something worthwhile and that it had meaning on my own terms. Writing! Of Course, I thought!

The benefits to talk with strangers
In my country, this might see dangerous because talk to strangers might represent a potential risk for someone else attack you and stole your things. Sadly, this has been a reality for the last years!.
However, we are underestimating the positive impact and benefits of connecting and having conversations with others. This research supports this fact.
For example one of the benefits of having a conversation with a stranger is that in the end both, the stranger and you will feel happier than you would think. Furthermore, both could learn something new from each other. Or for example, both could share the feeling at that time and feel much better or even talk about new things you didn’t know it.

Be grateful, you are still alive
I believe the “Day of the Dead” is most likely sad for the most recent deceased loved ones. I lost one of my Grandmas as well a couple of a few years ago as well. So, this day I remember her. I grew up so close to her that I still keep in mind how we enjoyed every single moment together. Be grateful for all the things you have and for the persons you are surrounded by. This life is so short and in a sudden moment will go away. You are just the owner of the memories, everything else doesn’t belong to you.
…
Be persistent and consistent
Luck is the intersection of hard work, perseverance and the right moment. Whenever we were still waiting in the crazy long car line- Suddenly, a street trader got on the bus. He started off with a quick introduction to his product, delicious cookies. We were stuck for almost 3 hours, so most of the passager got really hungry.
Due to the long wait, we were hungry. He quickly sold out his cookies. “He did his day in a few minutes”. It comes up at the right moment!
This part taught me, that if you are doing the things consistently at some point the great results will come up and the sustained effort will have worthwhile.

Do a single thing that makes your day meaningful
After that day, I have been doing at least one thing that makes my day really, meaningful. I became an early-bird to start to work out and write in the morning and during the day I do at least one thing which at the end of the day I am proud of. For example, I try to encourage or motivate someone else to keep fighting on his dreams, spending my free time writing interesting drafts or continue on the current post what I am working.
I encourage you to make your day meaningful on your own terms. You will notice a feeling and life sense different before to go to bed when you review your day and you are proud of the things you have done.
Thanks for reading! I hope this story turned out to be interesting and helpful.
